Mr. Shafal Barua

Mr. Shafal Barua is a highly accomplished Engineering and Technical Management professional with more than 20 years of extensive experience in heavy manufacturing, utilities, and large-scale industrial operations. He currently serves as General Manager – Technical at Modern Poly Industries Limited and Modern Syntex Limited, where he provides strategic leadership and comprehensive oversight of critical technical functions supporting complex, continuous industrial operations.

His core expertise covers captive and grid-connected power generation systems, utilities and energy optimization, electrical and instrumentation (E&I) systems, preventive and reliability-centered maintenance, industrial automation, and large-scale civil and infrastructure projects. He has extensive experience in renewable energy integration, load management, and power quality improvement to ensure stable, cost-efficient operations in energy-intensive manufacturing environments.

Mr. Barua has led multiple greenfield and brownfield expansion projects, managing the full project lifecycle—from techno-economic feasibility studies, CAPEX budgeting, vendor evaluation, and contract management to installation, commissioning, performance testing, and operational stabilization. His work has delivered measurable improvements in plant availability, energy efficiency, maintenance cost reduction, and asset lifecycle performance.

A strong advocate of structured engineering governance, he has implemented PM, PdM, TPM, and reliability engineering frameworks, strengthened HSE systems, and ensured compliance with statutory, electrical safety, and environmental standards. He is also experienced in developing technical SOPs, maintenance KPIs, spare-parts optimization models, and emergency response systems for high-risk industrial assets.

Academically, Mr. Barua holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Chittagong University of Engineering & Technology (CUET) and an MBA from the University of Dhaka, enabling him to bridge technical depth with financial discipline and strategic decision-making. He continues to play a critical role in building robust, energy-efficient, and future-ready industrial assets that support operational resilience and sustainable growth.
